This is copied from an earlier post re camping. Hope it helps.

Details on Wausau weekend, as promised: On Saturday, June 15, we are paddling the Eau Claire River. This is a 6.2 mile stretch, which should take between 3-4 hours with a break. Meet at 12 noon in the Village of Weston, intersection of Ross Ave. and Babl Lane. There is a parking area with porta-potties to the east, and the Eau Claire river is just to the north. After we get the kayaks off the cars, we can shuttle cars to the end point at the Drott St. Landing, approximately 6 miles. away in Schofield (adjacent to Wausau). Bring snacks and/or lunch if you think you will be hungry; there are many opportunities to stop for a snack/bathroom break. After kayaking, Bill can take us for a pontoon boat ride/cocktail hour on Lake Wausau followed by a barbecue hosted by Bill and me at his house (2207 Mount View Boulevard in Wausau). Those wanting to camp, Friday or Saturday night or both, can camp free at the Whitewater Park located at 388 River Drive in Wausau. Camping is basically a free-for-all on the grassy area. Cars can be driven right up to your selected patch of turf, small campers allowed, and maybe one or two larger campers if necessary. No hookups, but they have flush toilets and outdoor showers. Sunday several of us are signed up for the whitewater classes, and as far as I know they still have spots available. If you don't want to participate it's still tons of fun to watch. I didn't realize that it's Father's Day that Sunday; hopefully that won't limit the participation! Oh - I should mention - there is a Farmer's Market Saturday morning next to the campground for anyone interested in that. There are a couple of picnic pavilions in the campground, but no designated campsites with picnic tables or anything. So bring chairs and whatever else you need to make your camping experience the best it can be!
