This session, for people who paddle long boats* with spray skirts, will be focused on what to do when you fall out of your boat. We'll demonstrate how to do a wet exit, an assisted rescue, and a self-rescue. We'll all have plenty of time to practice these skills--so plan on having fun, getting wet, and learning some essential skills. If you plan to paddle on Lake Superior for the upcoming Rookie Rendezvous and other trips you'll need to demonstrate that you can do self- and assisted rescues. So come on out and learn--or refresh--your skills!
These videos preview what we will be doing:
How to wet exit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By4PgYkeJzw
How to do a T-rescue: https://youtu.be/a8CYbL_mmC0
How to do a self-rescue: https://youtu.be/IUHYtQR79Z4

Bring a paddle float and pump if you have them.

*Note that we will hold a session at another time for rec kayaks.
