What is this?
We will be leaving for Sawbill on Thu May 20th. COVID will determine if we do some car-pooling. We will be car camping, so can bring extra gear. Sawbill has an outfitter & camp store. We can kayak, canoe, or both.
We will be day-tripping into the BWCA, exploring campsites, portages, and area lakes.
Cold water immersion gear will be needed.
We will not be on a tight schedule.
Meals will be on our own, but if people want to volunteer to do a group meal, we can sure do that.
I'd like to do a day-trip up the Gunflint out of Grand Marais, put in at Bearskin lake, portage to Duncan Lake & explore the Rose Lake Falls & stairway portage. The Border Route trail runs thru there & there are amazing overlooks where you can see across to Canada! Also we could visit the Trail Center Lodge on the Gunflint. My favorite place!
The trip will be loosely structured, with lots of flexibility. Hopefully that gives enough detail, and a feel for the trip. Pre-registration is a must & I think we should cut that off 2 weeks prior to the trip.
Cheers! Mike
