About this event
Lake Wazee is a county park, and there is a daily fee. We will plan to meet up at the lakeside site between the beach & boat landing. If that’s not available, we can meet up on the beach. Bring lots to drink & a lunch / snacks.
I’m planning to work on rescues from approx 9-noon.
Covering;
Wet exits
T-rescue, with heel hook, as swimmer
T-rescue as rescuer
These are the skills we need to have checked off for Rookie Rendezvous paddlers that want to do the cross to Sand Island, or visit the Myer’s Beach sea caves.
If you are planning to rent a kayak & they require rescue training, ask them which rescues they need to have demonstrated & if they will waive that if we video you performing the skills. They may not budge, but it never hurts to ask. If they need more techniques than we are planning, we can add to our schedule.
The Wazee Lake Recreation Area is Jackson County's newest and largest County Park. The focal point of the 1300-acre recreation area is Wazee Lake. The lake is 146 acres in size and is the clearest and deepest inland lake in Wisconsin. Wazee Lake has become the most popular scuba diving site in the Midwest, attracting more than 1000 divers annually. The lake is non-motorized to ensure protection of the pristine water quality, and to promote a "quiet" recreational experience.
